TIPS AND TRICKS

Over the years Woodscape artists have shared with us handy tips to both personalize and enhance your Woodscape experience. A few of these are as follows:

Painting

"When painting the pieces from the color chart, you can run out of a particular batch of paint in some cases. If this happens, go ahead and mix another batch of paint. There is enough paint to do this."

"I have found it helpful to apply the paint pigment across the grain rather than with it. I think I achieve a thinner and more even layer of color."

"I always squeeze the first drop from a bottle into a second cup before measuring my drops in my blending cup. In this way, if the first drops should run together I will not have to guess how much paint was released or start the color over."

"I find that when wiping my wood I achieve better results if I use a circular motion."

"When I come across a knot on a light piece of the painting, I go back over it with my brush, and using my paper towel, I only dab the paint off lightly. This leaves a little more of a paint film on the painting but I prefer the effect."

"For the Spring Flowers and The Swing artKits, painting the flowers can be tricky. I have used a cotton swab to dab the flowers. This prevents the paints used on the petals from running into the stem portion of the flower."

"For the Spring Flowers and The Swing artKits, I suggest that you do not wipe the flowers after painting them. I have found that when you wipe them the color of the flower mixes with the color of the foliage."

Traditional Kits
These are generally our larger and somewhat more complicated kits. They are often the choice for customers who do Woodscapes as a serious hobby.

Pre-Assembled Kits
All these kits are 15” x 20”. They come with all the pieces arranged on the backerboard. This make a project somewhat quicker. However most of the smaller pieces are combined into larger ones separated by an etched line. This makes the the painting process a little more demanding.

Decorative Mirrors
These kits are done in the same way as our Pre-Assembled. You just pick up the pieces, paint and glue them back in place.

Now anyone can create gallery quality art with these enjoyable and easy-to-use kits.
